When it comes to consumer units, installers are always looking for one thing. Make the job easier without compromising on safety or compliance.
The new Design Evo range from Hager has been built with exactly that in mind. It takes everything electricians liked about previous Hager boards and refines it into a more practical, installer-first solution.
Built for Simpler Installation
Design Evo is not just a refresh. It is a rethink of how a consumer unit should work on site.
From the moment you open the enclosure, the improvements are obvious. Smart lid locators hold the front cover in place during installation, making one-handed fitting a reality. This small change can make a big difference when working in tight spaces.
Retained screws are another welcome addition. No more dropped fixings or wasted time searching for lost parts. Everything stays where it should, helping you stay focused on the job.
There is also a built-in door prop, which keeps the lid open while you are labelling circuits. It is a simple feature, but one that saves time and frustration.
Practical Features That Matter
Hager has clearly focused on the details that improve day-to-day work.
The secure cable clamp keeps meter tails firmly in place. This reduces strain on terminals and frees up your hands when tightening connections. It is a safer and more controlled way to work.
Rear cable protection is included as standard, helping prevent damage during installation. Combined with round knockouts and a cable entry plate, cable management is straightforward and tidy.
Quick-release DIN clips allow devices to be removed individually. That means no need to strip back the entire busbar for small changes or upgrades.
Designed with Safety in Mind
Safety remains a key part of the Design Evo range.
The enclosure is non-combustible and fully compliant with BS EN 61439-3, including Annex ZB. This ensures it meets current UK requirements for residential installations.
There is also a lockable lid option. With a pre-cut facility for a lock barrel or padlock, it supports Lockout Tagout procedures without the need for drilling or modification.
An integrated SPD earth connection is another standout feature. By removing the need for a separate earth cable, installation is quicker and neater while maintaining full protection.
New RCBO Offering
Alongside the boards, Hager has introduced a new RCBO range designed to complement Design Evo.
These devices cover ratings from 6A to 32A and feature bidirectional capability. They also include a switched neutral design and a 500 mm neutral fly lead, giving installers more flexibility on site.
A Range That Covers Every Job
Design Evo is available in a wide range of configurations to suit different installations.
Single row boards range from 2 to 20 ways, while dual row options go up to 19 plus 20 ways. Whether it is a small domestic upgrade or a larger residential project, there is a board to match.
Top, bottom and side knockouts provide flexibility for cable entry, and the included cable clamp and entry plate mean fewer extras are needed.
Better as Standard
What stands out most about Design Evo is that these features are not optional extras. They come as standard.
This is where the range really delivers value. It is not about adding complexity. It is about making everyday tasks easier, faster and more reliable.
For electricians who want a consumer unit that works with them rather than against them, Design Evo is a strong option to consider.
